Juan Garaizabal, the sculptor of the Memoria Urbana Berlin, visited Korea in July 2016. During this visit, he constructed the same sculpture of the Nemoria Urbana Berlin in the reduced size of 5 meters in Godae-Island, Boryeong-si, Chungcheongnam-do in commemoration of Korea’s first protestant missionary. Karl Friedrich August Gutzlaff (1803-1851) and his visit to Korea in 1832. Gratefully acknowledged is the great effort of Juan Garaizabal and Lux Bethlehem eV. on the
construction of the sculpture. The sculpture of Garaizabal placed in Godae-Island was to be built in order to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the foundation of Dongil Presbyterian Church, Daegu, Republic of Korea. Its construction was fully supported by the aforementioned church in terms of finance, and completed by the great help of the Godaedo Residents Association led by Mr. Heung Tae Kim, and dedicated to churches in
